Hydroponic & Root-ball Lettuce

Over the last years the cultivation of root-ball lettuce has increased both in Europe and the USA.

The advantages of the root-ball still being attached is that this provides longer freshness and more and crispier leaves.  The product grows in gutters instead of in the ground and therefore requires less energy and water.

The shape of the product also demands a special sleeve  shape  in order  to present the product in an attractive way.

For this reason Mediane produces special sleeves for root-ball lettuce, provided with ventilation holes but also with an extra strong bottom seal combined with a V-Shape seal in the bottom area, which firmly holds the root-ball in place.

NEW - Standard Lettuce sleeves available in smaller quantities (North American market only)

Now available from our Virginia warehouse are standard sized conical Lettuce sleeves which can be purchased by the case ( a case equals to 3.000 pieces). These standard sleeves are printed at the bottom in black to hide the root- ball and are perfect for hydroponically grown lettuce. The thickness is 1.18 mil (30 micron) and the sleeves are made out clear transparent CPP.

The dimensions are: Topwidth 14.4 inches (365 mm) x Height 10.4 inches (265 mm) x Bottomwidth 6.9 inches (175 mm) - sealed and suitable for hydroponic lettuce.
